"MIT's usability guidelines include many factors to consider during a usability evaluation of a web site. Not all factors apply to every site. Since the guidelines are a work in progress, you should check back periodically for a new version.
The current usability guidelines cover the following areas: 1) navigation, 2) functionality, 3) user control, 4) language and content, 5) online help and user guide, 6) system and user feedback, 7) web accessibility, 8) consistency, 9) error prevention and correction, and 10) architectural and visual clarity."
